PROF. P.K. JAYALAKSHMI
Prof. P.K. Jayalakshmi has been serving as the Head of the Department of Hindi, St. Joseph’s College for Women (A), Visakhapatnam, A.P for the past 25 years. Recipient of AP State Best Teacher Award.
PUBLICATIONS: Authored and published 7 Hindi and 6 Telugu literary books and 154 articles in various magazines and Journals. Also edited 7 books.
- Pratibha- To showcase the creative talents of the students, publishing departmental magazines since 15 years.
- Seminar Convener for 2 UGC International and 3 UGC National seminars and 2 International Webinars in Hindi.
- Research Guide: 6 scholars were awarded M.Phil.
- Principal Investigator for 2 UGC Research Projects.
- Active litterateur: Participates in various literary organizations, Kavi Sammelans, interactive Radio, F.M, and Gnanavani programmes. Also reviews novels, stories, and poetry.
- AIR Programmes: She coordinates the Rangarang Youth Programmes and delivers talks on several literary trends in Hindi and Telugu which are broadcast through ALL INDIA RADIO.
- International Recognition: Deputed as a Cultural Ambassador to Sofia University, Bulgaria {2012-14} by ICCR and MEA, GOI. She promoted Hindi and Indian culture across European countries.
Dr. P.K. Jayalakshmi, ICCR, Chair, in the Dept. of Indology, University of Sofia, Bulgaria has successfully represented the country in propagating Indian Culture across the European Countries from 2012-2014.
As the AP State Best Teacher Awardee for 2016, Dr. P.K. Jayalakshmi proactively involves the students in all activities whether it is Hindi Fortnight Celebrations or Pratibha magazine and other creative activities while undertaking Major and Minor Research Projects. Ms. Urmila Appadu of Mauritius University did Ph.D. on the literary works of Prof. P.K. Jayalakshmi and has been conferred a Doctorate on 27th October 2020.
She also trained Americans in Spoken Telugu (2019-20) who are Full Bright - English teaching Assistants from the U.S. - Mr. Dhruv, Mr. Dominic, and Ms. Pepper.
Dr. P.K. Jayalakshmi is also taking up YouTube classes on Spoken Hindi for Non-Hindi people. She guided 8 M.Phil. Scholars and published 15 literary books in both Hindi and Telugu. She edited 6 Seminar journals and 6 Degree Hindi Textbooks.
Prof. P.K. Jayalakshmi has the expertise of organizing 5 National Seminars and 3 International Seminars earlier, which were well attended by many delegates from India and abroad. Though Hindi is a Second Language, many Alumnae have been motivated to complete their Masters and Doctorate in Hindi successfully.
